Journey with learning using console - monsieur - 01-27-2024 So I've installed joborun last night. I've used Hyperbola Gnu/Linux-libre iso from my usb stick, but I read that any iso where arch-chroot scripts are will do. There's installer script located in /usr/local/bin and also Xinstaller (graphics) I am having some trouble with running openbox (any wm/de) at the moment, but because I feel like learning using console text mode only programs, I am ok with that at the moment. There's runit as init system, and basically it comes as pretty minimalistic and elegant OS. I am using lynx for web browsing right now, irssi/weechat for irc and managed to install some power saving programs like tlp/hdparm/powertop. Gonna do some more hacking now :-). I might post some more info about it once I get a bit more comfortable with console and once I have set up some stuff! Now I gotta memorize how to run services with runit . RE: Journey with learning using console - monsieur - 01-27-2024 Ok, I managed to get into openbox, it's great! Comes with conky! Ram usage with lxterminal open, hexchat and conky 140mb!! Doing some tweaks like editing /etc/hosts files https://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.html I am using librewolf web browser with tor proxy right now! RE: Journey with learning using console - monsieur - 01-29-2024 Decided to give up using chrome/mozilla web browsers Viable alternatives are: netsurf dillo lynx All those web browsers were designed for RE: Journey with learning using console - monsieur - 02-10-2024 I am still using this wonderful system! |
